The General Information INDONESIA

INDONESIA is the sleeping giant of South Asia. With 18,110 islands, 6,000 of them inhabited, it’s the largest archipelago in the world. With well over 210 million people, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world after China, India and the USA and by far the largest in Southeast Asia. Indonesia also has the largest Muslim population in the world.

Well my lovely guest Indonesia divided 2 words, they are Indos and Nesos. Indos it’s mean India and Nesos it’s mean Island. So Indonesia has the meaning Indian island. Indonesia is republic country, so Indonesia lead by president and the name is Mr. SUSILO BAMBANG YUDHOYONO and vice president is Mr. BOEDI YONO. Indonesia flag is 2 color, red and white, Red it’s mean Brave and White it’s mean holy. The designer is Ms. FATMAWATI, she is president wife. Indonesia anthem is Indonesia Raya, the composed by Mr. WAGE RUDOLF SUPRATMAN. Indonesia has one motto, that BHINEKA TUNGGAL IKA, it’s mean ‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’. Independent day Indonesia is on August, 17^th 1945. Currency of Indonesia is rupiah. If you want to change your money to Rupiah, you can go to money changer.

In Indonesia have 6 religion they are, Moeslem, Khatolik, Kristiani, Hinduism, Budhist, n Konghuchu. Konghuchu is new religion in Indonesia. Indonesia have many kinds of ethnic, such as: Batak, Malay, Nias, Java, Betawi, Aceh, Toraja, Sunda, n Minang. The staple food of Indonesia is rice, but in the East Indonesia, staple traditional food is corn, sagu, and cassava.

Well my lovely guest Indonesia has 5 the biggest island, they are Sumatera Island, Java Island, Borneo Island, Sulawesi Island, and Irian Jaya Island. The biggest island in Indonesia is Borneo Island.

The General Information Nort Sumatera

Well my lovely guest after telling about Indonesia, now I will explain about North Sumatera. North Sumatera is located in the Sumatera Island. It’s one of provinces in Indonesia. The capital city of North Sumatera is Medan.

My lovely guest the climate in Medan is Tropical. North Sumatera lead by governor, and the name is Mr. Samsul Arifin and the vice governor is Mr. Gatot Pujonugroho. In North Sumatera mayority religion Is Moeslem. It’s about 63%( it’s the biggest religion ). In North Sumatera has a kinds of ethnic. Mayority of ethnic in North Sumatera is Malays. And devided in to sub group : such as: Batak Toba, Batak Karo, Simalungun, Mandailing, Angkola, and Pak-pak Dairi.

The economy of North Sumatera was called Paris of Sumatera. It’s means North Sumatera famous for it’s plantation and oil resources. My lovely guest, it’s nice to hear that as other countries all over the world have favorite food and drinks. In North Sumatera the famous food it’s Bika Ambon. Which is made from Nira/ Tuak, or jungle jus. It’s very delicious. It’s price about Rp. 30.000,-/ box. You can buy at Jl. Mojopahit. And favorite drinks in North Sumatera is ‘Tuak’. It’s made of Nira. It’s same as a some drink in your country. Example: Brandy, Baccardy, Chivas, Vodca, Miller, and the others.

Well my lovely guest, Medan city has Airport. Namely Polonia International Airport. Polonia International Airport has served domestic and international flight for passenger and goods (export/import) from and to Medan. North Sumatera has seaport. Namely Belawan Seaport. It’s to support regional and international trade activities.

The General Information Medan City

Medan is the capital city of North Sumatera. It’s the 3^rd biggest city after Jakarta and Surabaya. Medan is metropolitan city with over millions inhabitats. Medan also has many activities. Medan is the center of trade, commerse, industry and entertainment.

Medan started as a village called Kampung Medan (Medan Village). Kampung Medan was founded by Guru Patimpus around the 1590s, because Kampung Medan sits on Tanah Deli ( Land of deli ), Kampung Medan also referred as Medan Deli. The original location of Kampung Medan is area where the deli river meeys Babura River.

The first inhabitats of Medan came from the Batak Karo Community. It’s was not until the Suktan of Aceh, Sultan Iskandar Muda, sent this warlord, Gogah Pahlawan Laksamana Khojah Bintan, to be Sultanate of Aceh representative in Tanah Deli, that the Sultanate of started to grow. This growth stimulated growth in both the population and culture of Medan in the second year reign of Sultan Deli ( between 1669-1689 ), there was a salvary battle in Medan.

Medan did’n enjoy significant development until the 1860s, when the dutch colonialist began clearing the land tobacco plantation. Medan quickly became a center of government and commercial activity, dominating development of Indonesia’s western region. The dutch governed Tanah Deli from 1658, after Sultan Ismail, ruler of the kingdom of Siak Indrapura, yield some of has once ruled land, Deli, Langkat, and Serdang. In 1915 Medan officially became the capital of North Sumatera province, and officially a city in 1918.
